Yes the Journal of Education Psychology does publish research. That is actually their main purpose. And their isn't any distinct research topic. There are all different types of research topics.
One of the first people to study forensic psychology was William Stern in 1901. He conducted a study with his students examining memory and how much a person could recall at different time intervals after observing a photo. This study was the foundation for research into the reliability of eyewitness testimony in court cases. Stern determined from this study that in general, recall memories are inaccurate, especially when paired with lead-in questions. The first person to publish a book about these inaccuracies was Hugo Munsterberg, who is known as the first forensic psychologist. His book, published in 1908, was titled "On the Witness Stand." Other early contributors to the advancement of forensic psychology include Sigmund Freud and Alfred Binet
Scientific pscyhology and parapsychology share many traits. Scientific psychology is the practice of inquiring into the nature of human emotions, reactions and perceptions in controlled laboratory studies. Parapsychology is the the practice of inquiring into specific exceptional experiences relating to mind-oriented communications and effects. Both use qualitative and quantitative research methods. Both study effects which are often so subtle that they require statiscal analysis to assure the effects in fact exist. And the outcomes of the experiments seem to be sensitive to the beliefs or emotional states not only of subjects but also of the experimenters. This is known as "Experimenter Effect". Both publish their results in peer-reviewed journals recognized as authoritative in their respective disciplines. Practitioners in both disciplines are members of scientific organizations recognized and accredited by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Steps of scientific investigation:1. Formulate hypothesis with clearly defined variables. Once you define your hypothesis you have to decide how to design your study. What behavior are you measuring and how will you measure it. Need to define VARIABLES ( something that varies or changes and can be measured and manipulated.OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF VARIABLES: This is a definition given to a variable that allows it to be quantified so that it can be measured. The operational definition also allows other researchers to know what is being measured and should allow them to replicate your study.2. Select research method and design a study. There are three basic research methods employed by psychologists.a) Experimental Research Design: Involves the manipulation and measurement of variablesb) Correlational Research Design: Examines the relationship between variables ( environmental, physical, social) to explain observed behaviors.c) Descriptive Research Design: Sometimes referred to as observational research, it involves describing behavior as it occurs in naturalistic setting. There is no manipulation of variables. Observational research also includes case studies which investigate individual subjects in an attempt to establish a relationship between past events and present behavior.3. Data collection. Maybe through questionnaires, direct observation, interviews, psychological tests, physiological recordings or examination of archival data.4. Analyze data. Use statistical analysis to draw conclusions which support or refute hypothesis.5. Report and/or publish findings. Reporting of findings allows information to be shared and critiqued. Usually scientific research is published in a scientific journal relevant to the area of research. JOURNALS are periodicals that publish technical and scholarly material, usually in a narrowly defined area of study. The two main advantages of the scientific approach are:a) Clarity and precision. Clearly defined objectives and measuresb) Intolerance of errors. Peers will be very critical. Data must objective and documentation thorough. Also experiment should be reproducible. In other words other scientists should be able to test the same hypothesis in the same way and come up with the same findings.
Jean Piaget published his theory of cognitive development in 1936.
Jose Rizal retired from the propaganda movement to focus on his writing and to distance himself from the escalating violence and radicalism associated with the movement. He believed in achieving change through peaceful means and saw his writings as a more effective way to inspire reform and awaken the consciousness of his fellow Filipinos.
