Psychoanalysis is very time consuming and it does not provide required answers quickly which is a practical disadvantage. Secondly people who do this therapy may discover some memories that had originally been repressed due to whatever reason which may cause more stress. Lastly people who take part in these types of therapies must be motivated as it requires a lot of time and money, sometimes people just stop the therapy half way because they cannot cope with the pressure which leads to inaccurate results and means that these therapies are not very useful.

Some disadvantages of psychoanalysis compared to other forms of talk therapy include its lengthy duration (often several years), high cost, and the intense focus on unconscious processes that may not be appealing or necessary for all individuals seeking therapy. Additionally, the emphasis on exploring childhood experiences and deep-rooted conflicts may not always align with the more immediate, goal-oriented approach of some other therapies.

In an experiment to determine the usefulness of virtual reality (VR) therapy in curing phobic disorders subjects are assigned to one of two groups one that uses VR (the VR group) or one that does not?

Subjects in the VR group will undergo therapy using virtual reality technology, while those in the control group will receive a different form of therapy or no therapy at all. By comparing the outcomes of the two groups, researchers can assess the effectiveness of VR therapy in treating phobic disorders and determine if it is more beneficial than other forms of treatment.
