Correction: In WESTERN culture, or cultures that are Westernized, the former is seen more often than the latter because of chivalry. A chivalrous man believes a woman should go first. Otherwise, he is just looking at the view. In many other cultures, however, it is the opposite. Men walk in front of their women because they don't respect them.
