How does family origin influence behavior in marriage?

We are who we are from the environment we grew up, but if we don't like some of those bad qualities in most families we have the control to change that in our own personalities. If some people come from an abused family they can carry those traits through their own life. Men or women from such families could grow up mistreating their spouses or their own children. If a person comes from a normal family background chances are they will be the same towards their spouse, but, sometimes people from a normal background can become abusive in their own right as well without any provocation from family. If one comes from a happy childhood background with lots of love and support then they are more apt to have the most successful relationships. It doesn't matter if one is rich or poor. A rich family doesn't mean you are going to be any better an individual as a person coming from a poor family. Often the rich kids are brought up by nannies or ignored and simply given money to keep them busy, and the poor families may not have much but give good quality time to their children. Race and religious views can also become a factor in a relationship working or not working.

How do poor people feel?

I build homes for poor families in Central America. When interviewing people who ask for a home I ask them to tell me their story. Repeatedly the phrase "I live a dog's life" is mentioned. A dog's life in Central America is not what it is in the U.S.. The dogs they are referring to are not fed, cared for or loved. They wonder the streets and garbage dumps scavenging for anything they can find to eat. They are abused by other dogs and humans. Hunger and disease is their life. A dog's life for a poor family in Central America can mean they a marginalized life filed with ... loneliness, embarrassment, abuse, hunger. It is a life in the shadows, dirty, susceptible to diseases, powerless, and frustrated. By building these folks a home our goal is to change lives and give families an opportunity to live a new story. In so many ways the build experience, new relationships and working together along with the new home they receive enable that to happen.

Relationship of population resources and environment to health and development?

There is a very large body of research that tries to explain the effects of income, development, and population on health. I can give you a few ideas. 1. When income and economic development is low, health expenditures are also low. This actually results in slower development, because when health is poor, then obviously economic development is going to be harder. 2. When income and health is poor, population growth also tends to be high. This is because it makes sense to have lots of children in order to support you in your old age. Again, this leads to slower economic development, because children require certain resources that take away from investing in capital and so forth. 3. However, as economic development proceeds, we see families investing more in health, having fewer children, and creating more sophisticated financial systems. This helps to speed up economic development.

How does self esteem relate to happiness?

it is far easier for people with self esteem to respect success, even if it is their own, and in many cases especially if it is their own. If you have poor self esteem then you don't have the chance to become successful, or it will be much harder to become successful.

Did organize crime excist before 1920 in the US?

Yes, organized crime did happen before the 1920's and was brought over by the Cicilian families and some Irish families. People were poor, they were tired of being poor so crime began and the Irish and Italian had an all-out war for years. Organized Crim is with us always in the U.S./Canada and it's simply just become more sophisticated in it's effects.
