Take the Uptown 3 train (of the 1-2-3, the red line) or Uptown 4 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line) from Utica Avenue-Crown Heights to Atlantic Avenue.
Transfer at Atlantic Avenue to the Uptown B train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line). If the B is not running (it doesn't run nights and weekends), then transfer to the Uptown D train at Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street. The Atlantic Avenue station and the Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street station are connected to each other, so you can transfer without exiting the subway system.
Take the Uptown B or D to Grand Street (at Chrystie Street) in Manhattan. Then walk 3 blocks east on Grand Street, from Chrystie Street to Allen Street. Turn left, and walk 1/2 a block north to 86 Allen Street, between Grand and Broome Streets.
