Some people say it is always better to marry in your own religion. Having said that, Hinduism and Jainism are closely related and have many rituals, religious practices and beliefs in common.

The Jains are divided in a few castes, some of which intermarry with (and are thereby biologically part of) Hindu merchant castes: Jain Agarwals marry Hindu Agarwals but not Jain Oswals. They function as part of the merchant castes in the larger Hindu caste scheme. If the observance of caste endogamy is taken as a criterion of Hinduism, then Jains are Hindus by that criterion. In September 2001, the Rajasthan High Court ruled that the Jains are Hindus, not a separate non-Hindu minority; but in some other states they are counted as a separate minority. But if they are they will probably not accept the alliance. If the boy and the girl want to marry against the wishes of their parents there is nothing that can stop them from doing that since they're two independent, consenting adults.

Only a Muslim man is allowed to marry a Jew or a Christian woman provided she is a true believer in the ONENESS of Allah Almighty. Most of the Christian women don't fall into this category.
