As long as the Nikah was signed and the dower was paid to the bride, the marriage is perfectly valid. There is nothing that can render that marriage void. Not consummating marriage is a sin and it is better that the couple have sexual intercourse as soon as possible because this is the ruling of Shariah. However, if there is a continuous tension in the house and it appears that the bride will not have a happy marital life in the long run, it is better to take Khula.
