Jehovah's Witnesses follow Jesus's counsel found in The Bible about being no part of the world. Keeping neutral as to the political ideas and decisions that often reflect man's ideas not god's as noted in the scriptures. Voting would be supporting those ideas or the ideas of a candidates party even when they could be contrary to principles stated in the bible. Sometimes though you may be choosing a tax or project the would be effecting your area so a witness may feel that voting would not be supporting a candidate or party that could compromise their christian principles. So the circumstances of what they are voting for would dictate whether one of Jehovah's Witnesses would vote.

The actual practice of voting is acceptable. For example, a group of friends may decide on a simple show of hands as to whether to eat at MacDonalds or Pizza Hut.

Political voting, however, is not acceptable.

They do not vote. They teach that the Bible instructs Christians to be neutral when it comes to politics.

Some of the verse referenced are:

Ecclesiastes 8:9 - "All of this I have seen, and I applied my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, during the time that man has dominated man to his harm."

Jeremiah 10:23 - "I well know, O Jehovah, that man's way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step."

John 17:16 (Jesus' words in prayer concerning his disciples) "They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world."

1 John 5:19 - "We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."

Another reference used is at Matthew 4:8-11, where the devil tempts Jesus with the kingdoms of the world. It is felt that if the devil was able to offer those things to Jesus than the kingdoms (governments) of the world must in some way be controlled by the devil.

They do, however, register in countries where registry is law in accordance with Paul's words at Romans 13.

No. Not in the traditional sense. Jehovah's Witnesses do support Jehovah God's heavenly government which is ruled by his son Jesus, noted in Daniel 2:44.
