Do people rewrite The Bible

It depends on what you mean by "rewrite". Anytime a work is translated from one language to another, the translator has to make some judgment calls... I suppose you could, in a sense, call that "rewriting". This is complicated in the particular case of the Bible by the way Hebrew was historically written... including vowels was a relatively late development, so there are sometimes more than one reasonable way to read a particular passage, and in some cases it's not clear whether something was originally intended as a normal word or as a proper noun.

There are also, in a few cases, "originals" which differ slightly from each other, and the translators again have to determine which to use.

This leaves out translators who have an agenda of some kind. For example, there have been translators who felt that a particular passage was deficient in some way, and decided to "improve" it.
