A.D. means addo domini (i think that's how you spell it) and that's latin for "the time of christ" or "the walk of christ" or whatever.
people try to take christ out of it by saying it's BCE (before common era) but don't be fooled...it was always before christ because they separated the years between when Jesus was born, and everything before that to get this whole year thing started.
so B.C. in The Bible would be the old testiment
and A.D. would be the new testment and onward...
