Well you have to hope to have faith. So hope is like a stepping stone to faith they both play a part in religion. You hope that what you hear is true and then you believe what you hear is true. The next step is having faith in it, or believe in something then acting on it. You can not have faith in something if you don't do much about it. Faith, belief and hope are surprisingly different but similar at the same time. HOPE do not play any role , certainly faith is religion ,faith is God,
