Explain the giants that inhabited the earth?

Looking from a Christian standpoint, the giants that once inhabited the earth are not a problem. In Genesis chapter one, God talks about a canopy of water that was once above the earth. Genesis 1:6, "And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so." The firmament is the expanse of the skies, the atmosphere in which we live. If there was a canopy of water above the earth, then the air pressure, and magnetic polarity would increase, causing animals, and plant life to increase dramatically in size. This is the reason that giants are found in the earth. Also, in Genesis 6:4, it says "There were giants in the earth in those days.." To Christian's, this is no problem, but on the contrary, proof that The Bible is correct. The reason that there is no longer a canopy of water, is because of the Great Flood in the times of Noah. Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart." And so God dicided to destroy the earth, and this is when the windows of Heaven were opened, and the fountains of the deep were broken up, causing the Great Flood.When amber is found with air bubbles inside, like from Jurassic park, they can be tested of the percentage of oxygen, and they have about 30%, which is about 10% more than what we have today at around 20%. When this canopy fell in the Great Flood, it lowered the oxygen levels, and brought an end to the time of the giants.

Of course we know that giants have not really inhabited the earth. Archaeologists have uncovered numerous graves of ordinary humans in the ancient Near East, but never the grave of a giant. They have found no dwellings suitable for habitation by a race of giants, nor any artefacts that they would have used. This, although the robustness of oversized dwellings and artefacts should have contributed to their preservation.
Many scholars put the early Hebrew stories of giants that inhabited the land down to contact wiith the Philistines, a nation of former sea-people who originated in the Greek milieu. And the ancient Greeks had many myths and entertaining stories about giants. So, it was natural for the Hebrew people to learn about the so-called giants from their Philistine neighbours. They even associated these giants with the Philistines (Goliath) and the ancient Canaanite homeland.
