Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) did not come up with ideas that started Islam and nor did he make it up. He received revelation from Allah via the Angel Jibril. It was these revelations that started Islam and the role of the prophet Muhammd (Peace be upon Him) was to preach these revelations to people and lead a life of example.
