Every mosque has a place where worshippers may ritually cleanse themselves before entering to pray. they have to be clean before facing Allah.
Muslims do not go to church. They go to mosque. They don't have to do anything before they go to a mosque.
Simply to show respect and modesty
The washing area in a mosque is called the Wudu
Removing shoes before entering a house is usually a cultural rather than a religious tradition. It is common to many Eastern countries, as well as Scandinavia. However, some religions require removing shoes before entering a house of worship or a temple. Muslims remove their shoes before entering a mosque, Hindus remove shoes before entering a temple, and Sikhs remove shoes before entering a gurudwara.
take off your shoes and wash
They don't. The only requirement in Judaism to wash the feet before worship, is for the Kohanim in the Holy Temple (which is no longer standing). See Exodus ch.30. It is Muslims who wash their feet before entering a mosque.
they are not ... if u mean why do Muslims take their shoes off before entering the mosque ( masjid ) then that's just because a mosque is the house of god and it should be respected and kept clean .. so u shouldn't walk with ur shoes on into the mosque to bcoz u step on all sorts of stuff in the street and u shouldn't drag them into the mosque and it's also a sign of respect to the place..and Allah knows best
