• Talk to him: Directly, by phone, by radio
• Write to him: Handwritten notes or letters, e-mail, text

If there is a language difference and you don't share a primary language you can:

• Switch to a language you both understand and can operate in
• Use a translator

Cultural differences shouldn't make any differences.

Educational differences may make a difference if you want to talk about a topic (like quantum mechanics) and only one of you has sufficient math skills.
