How do you deal with a Jehovah witness in your family?

They are "Jehovah's Witnesses" and I like them very much. They are not perfect but they try very hard to do what they believe to be right and to adhere to Jesus teachings. Although they take their beliefs seriously, they are very respectful of all family members. As far as "dealing with them", I'm not sure what that means. I am respectful of them, as well.

This is a very broad question because there are many variables.

How old is the individual?

Does it bother you that they converted?

Do you see it as a problem that they converted?

In general, Jehovah's Witnesses do not expect anything to change with their family when they become one of Jehovah's Witnesses. They still love their family.

The difficult part may be that you are feeling awkward that they do not participate in certain celebrations anymore, such as birthdays or Christmas. Please respect their decision. They have searched The Bible and have made a choice that they can no longer celebrate these occasions. They are okay with not being there.

Find other occasions to enjoy their company. Remember, they are still your family and would enjoy a meal or family picnic.
