David was King in Hebron for several years until the death of Saul. During that time, Saul pursued him intermittently, believing that David threatened his (Saul's) monarchy. At one point, David had to hole up in the territory of the Philistine King Achish. When Achish's men wanted to kill David, he pretended to be insane and they let him be.
Achish, Philistine King of Gat (1 Samuel ch.27).
In the First Book of Samuel, David had fled from Saul, to take sanctuary with Achish, king of Gad. However, Achish was turned against him, so David escaped to the cave Adullam, where he plotted his return. Care must be taken in reading this, as much of the story of King David closely so parallels the story of Judah that one of them is likely inspired by the other, with the story of Judah more likely the original. One of the many parallels is how Judah separated from his brothers to live in Adullum.
The story of David faking madness can be found in the Bible, specifically in the book of 1 Samuel chapter 21. David pretends to be insane in front of King Achish of Gath in order to escape from his enemies.
Philistines Answer 2 In fleeing from Saul, King David went to Gat, a Philistine city. The servants of the Philistine king pointed out that it was David who had come to their city, implying that he should be killed (since he had fought with the Philistines). In order to be left unharmed, David was compelled to feign insanity (1 Samuel ch.21).
The word "deceive" is in the King James Version of the Bible 27 times. It is in 27 verses.
God protected David from Saul's attempts to harm him, providing him with wisdom to navigate dangerous situations and securing his safety. God also reassured David of his presence and faithfulness, giving him the strength to endure the challenges he faced.
