No. They are encouraged to give out of their desire to give support for their places of worship, traveling missionaries, and literature.

ADDITIONALLYWe have no dues, tithes, or collections. Obviously, there is money needed to operate, so there are donation boxes in the Kingdom Halls, but no one is ever asked to put anything in. We view our donations as a private matter, and each Witness does so as discreetly as he can, and only if he can. Many Witnesses simply are not able to give much or anything at all, and that is ok. We are all brothers and sisters in the congregation.

A huge factor that helps is the fact that we have no paid clergy, no paid secretaries, no paid choir, or any other people that are paid for their services. All spiritual services, printing of literature, maintenance of the buildings and grounds, and even the construction of our buildings is all done by volunteers.

The only expenses we have, therefore, is normal operating neccessities such as electricity, water, sanitation, and the needs of the volunteer labourers, which in the case of full time volunteers, may include things such as food and supplies.

If you go to a meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses, whether it is at the Kingdom Hall, an Assembly Hall, or a large convention, you will never see a collection plate passed. Instead there are contribution boxes at the back of Kingdom Halls and at various locations throughout the building in the case of Assembly halls and larger conventions.

At the end of every large convention, circuit and district assembly an announcement is made of the accounts report for the expenses incurred at that meeting. It is normally announced that there is a deficit and those in attendance, in the UK at least, are reminded that they can contribute, if they so desire, with their credit cards. See link below for the UK website that accepts online donations.

Additional Answer: We do not take the money as our own because then we wouldn't be any different then everyone else. Actually all money is donated voluntarily and none of it is given to any of the speakers. It is given to world headquarters so as to continue to provide the literature we speak about or teach from in the door to door ministry.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses gamble in the stock market?

'Gamble' as in 'try to invest' then yes. Out and out gambling is not allowed. Many people view 'investing' in the stock market as different to gambling at a casino. Most Witnesses live a simple life, have part time jobs, and use what money they do have to support their worldwide preaching and teaching activity. Jehovah's people do not gamble with their money, as they consider this to be a form of greed, something that is condemned in the scriptures. (See 1 Corinthians 6:9,10)

Does Jehovah witnesses believe in more than 1 god?

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses believe there is more than 1 god.For example, they believe that Satan the Devil is a god, Jesus is a god, money can be godlike to some people etc. However, they believe there is only 1 God - Jehovah. While they believe gods (animate and inanimate) can be mighty in power or influence, they believe that Jehovah God is the only Almighty God.This means that they believe He alone deserves worship.Other gods are therefore not to be revered but rather either respected, in the case of Jesus Christ, or shunned, in the case of Satan the Devil.
