Special revelation is revelation that comes directly from God or an Angel to an individual. Special revelation includes Visions, the voice of God himself, or miracles or any other supernatural means.

However, it assumes that man is in fact a spiritual being, and if such a spiritual dimension exists, it is certainly independent of man for what concretely exists in it. Besides this, there is also revelation, that of God manifesting Himself to man versus man thinking up God. While many skeptics would merely pass revelation off as another creation of man, there are instances of very violent or public manifestations that are quite independent of human origin.
