The majority of Arabia was Pagan before the coming of Islam. They believed in many gods (represented by idols made of stone), it's thought that there were at least 365. The gods & goddeses had names like Aglibol, Atargatis, Hubal, Ishtar, Al-Uzza, Al-Manat, Al-Lat, Wadd, Bes (same as Egyptian Bast), Bel Shamen, Abgal, Astarte, Nergal etc. As you can see one difference is that Islam is purely monotheistic whilst Arabian paganism is polytheistic. Another difference is that using pictures to depict God is totally forbidden in Islam whilst it was common place in pagan Arabia. The pagan Arabs also had many traditions & customs which are contrary to Islam.
In the Arab states, Islam is the most common religion. It is essential to note that there are other religions practiced, such as Christianity and Baha'i.
not by the French, only the Arabs
The Arabs and Muslim have contributed immensely to the spread of Islam by spreading it to other continents such as Africa. A Muslim is a practitioner of Islam, so if Muslims did not exist, Islam would no longer be practiced (just like the Ancient Greek Religion with Zeus is no longer practiced). The Arabs were the first Muslims and were responsible for spreading Islam throughout North Africa and the Middle East.
Israel has no official state religion. All religions are practiced there. Adherents of Judaism form a majority of the population.
Christianity and Islam
There is only one kind of Islam religion and it did start in Saudi Arabia and Arabs were the first Muslims
Arabs is not a religion. Muslims venerate Mecca as a Holy City. All Arabs are not Muslim. All Muslims are not Arabs.
