Luke 16:3 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (material wealth or possessions.) Luke 18

Then come, follow me." 23: When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. 24: Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25: Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Jesus taught a parable in Luke 19:12-28 that seems to say that whatever money or talent God gives you you are supposed to use it for his glory, and also to expand upon it. The sin is loving money more than you love God (the previous example of the rich young ruler), not in having it. In Luke 19:13 he says he gave them the money. So, we should always be aware that he gives money, talents, etc. to be used for his service.

Matthew:12:41-43

There is an old song which says 'money is the root of all evil...take it away, take it away take it away!" which is claimed to come from The Bible. However, this is not true. Throughout the Bible, the necessity of money is seen throughout scripture from the Old Testament right through to the New. Even the twelve disciples had a 'treasurer' in Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Christ, and so they too handled money. The Biblical quote from the song is misquoted and comes from Paul's first letter to Timothy Chapter 6, verse 10 which reads: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." So it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. Money itself, scripturally, is fine as long as it is used properly. But the love of money, and pursuing great wealth for wealth's sake, is wrong. All kinds of crime - from robbery, embezzlement and fraud, through even to murder, are often linked with greed and monetary gain. All because of the love of money and its incorrect use.

Jesus Christ said; "That the Love of money is the root of all evil". You need money to live, (to buy food, pay rent, buy clothing), you should not live to get more money. Money is a tool that can do good to help people, but, it can also do bad to lead people to ruin. It is a necessity to live. You can die without money, but, money should not be the main focus of your life. "What you value the most should not be something that moths can eat, or a thief can steal". It should be your family, your friends and God; not money.
