Pharaohs were born, not elected nor chosen by the mass; we're not talking democracy here. Nobody voted on that one...except not to do a little murder, or such. And then the population was not all that into royal activites, in the first place, and the last place. Twisting language a bit here, and trying to put it in a 21th century context, as where we are: pharaohs were totally inherited devine right that made Western Europe look like primatives, which we were when they were doing their thing with civilization. Look up Ptolomy, and Ramses II, and Cleopatra. That will help you to finding out about ancient Egyptan kinship. Basically the Pharaoh system was a government system in Egypt which worked for at least as long as some of our Western systems; inherited ultimate authority in the state is not something new.
