John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, that is, in a full and complete way (cf.6:46), but some people did see partial revelations of God in the OT. To see God in Christ would be far better (see 14:6). Some ancient manuscripts say "the only Son" here (see esv footnote), but the earliest manuscripts say the only God (using the same word for "only" as 1:14, meaning "unique, one-of-a-kind"). John refers to two different persons here as "God," as he did in v. 1. John concludes the prologue by emphasizing what he taught in v. 1: Jesus as the Word is God, and he has revealed and explained God to humanity.
It is true - no man has seen God completely in all his glory. He has always been veiled in some way. Jesus' human body was one of these ways. He was still fully God spiritually.
Answer:
Jesus is talking about "the Father" in these passages... not Himself.
The confusion lies in the belief that God is a "trinity"... believing that God is "one person" all wrapped up in three [???]. This convoluted thought is guaranteed to keep the finite human mind reeling.
Jesus says: "I and My Father are one" (John 10:30)... not... 'I and My Father and the Holy Spirit are one.' Believe Him... or don't.
And because men don't believe what He says, they are confused by their own religious notions and ideas of what "being one" means.
When Jesus says, "...for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be ONE FLESH..." (Matt.19:5)... does He mean that they are the SAME PERSON? Or are they [or supposed to be] "ONE in purpose" and mission, in their rearing of their children in the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord?
When Jesus prayed to His Father, and said: "...Neither pray I for these [His disciples]alone, but for them also [future generations] which shall believe on Me through their word; that they all MAY BE ONE; as thou, Father, ART IN ME, and I IN THEE, that THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US..." (John 17:20-21) - ARE THEY ALL THE SAME PERSON?
Or is God, His Christ and His Church ALL ONE IN PURPOSE AND MISSION... bound together by God's power, the Holy Spirit, the "earnest" by which He "seals" His Children?
"...God [the Father]; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." (II Cor. 1:21-22)
"...God [the Father], who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit..." (II Cor.5:5).
"...ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory." (Eph.1:14)
An "earnest" is: 1) "something of value given by a buyer to a seller to bind a bargain. 2) "a token of what is to come; a pledge."
The Holy Spirit isn't a "person"... it's God's POWER. And it's not to be taken lightly when a person agrees to let Jesus Christ purchase him from bondage to Satan and becomes Jesus' slave and servant... a tiny spark of God's Holy Spirit is given to him as a "token or pledge" of their personal "business deal"... and seals the deal until Jesus comes back and "delivers the goods" as it were.
"...and unto them that look for Him SHALL HE APPEAR THE SECOND TIME WITHOUT SIN UNTO SALVATION." (Heb.9:28)
God isn't a trinity... God is a FAMILY. A single family unit, made up of more than one person - at the moment the Father and the Son - that's unified by the Father's POWER, the Holy Spirit. The same power that unifies His "called-out-ones." Not all the same person, but many people... sealed and destined to become Family Members born into the God Family.
God will not be limited by man with his "trinitarian" notions. He is pro-creating Himself into the Divine Family of God of untold number... too many to count.
"...in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thee as THE STARS OF THE HEAVEN, and as THE SAND WHICH IS UPON THE SEA SHORE..." (Gen.22:17).
Jesus Christ was the Almighty Creator God of the Old Testament (John 1:3)... that Family Member of the God Family speaking and executing the work the Father commanded Him to do. The Father has always remained in the background... out of sight and sound.
It is the Father that no man has ever seen or heard... not Jesus.
It was Jesus Christ in His Divine Spirit form, the backside of which Moses saw... not the Father.
The trinity has man all confused. A condition that will keep him that way until Jesus returns to reveal the Truth that he refuses to believe in His written Word.
Jesus is not a liar. He and His Father are one. Not the same person, but one in purpose in bringing mankind into the God Family. The number of which will be way more than three... an untold number that would blow the finite human mind if men would believe what He says.
No. Jesus is both fully man and fully God. God could not have died the death Jesus died, and a man could not have risen from the dead. He is both, but while he was on earth he was in man form. While it may seem paradoxical, anything is possible for God.
Yes, according to Christian belief, Jesus was able to sin but chose not to because he was both fully human and fully divine.
No, Jesus Christ was God then came down to earth and was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem as a human being. Jesus is fully God and fully Man, the God/Man.
God sent His Son Jesus to earth to save mankind. He made the virgin Mary pregnant with Jesus and had Him grow up as a Jewish child, so that he could be fully human and fully God, the only way that He could save mankind from our sin. He was crucified on the cross and forsaken by God so that He could take on all the sin of mankind. The story of Jesus can be read in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the first four books in the New Testament.
The Catholic Church was first... so, I guess you could just say "chrsitianity" or you could say the Catholic Church.
jesus was, undoubtedly, dead after his crucifixion. no human could survive the crucifixion (and jesus WAS human), and besides, his side was pierced with a spear to make sure he was dead. his resurrection could have only happened if he was God as well as man.
Jesus the Christ is the Son of God the second Person of the Holy Trinity, thus He is fully God. When He came to earth and was born of Mary in Bethlehem as a human being He became fully man. He is the God/man. fully God and fully man.
We are all supposed to be following the example of Jesus and following the Christ helps us to imitate our heavenly Father. This is because Jesus reflected God's thinking, feelings, and personality better and explained him more fully than anyone else could. When on earth, Jesus did not simply make Jehovah's name known. Rather, he revealed the Person that name represents. (Read Matthew 11:27.) Jesus did this by his words and deeds, his teachings and example. So if the churches are telling you something different than what Jesus is teaching us, then there is a big problem on the churches side!
Christian theology holds that Jesus was fully God and fully man. While on Earth, Jesus experienced human emotions, temptations, and limitations, but also performed miracles and displayed divine attributes. This concept, known as the hypostatic union, affirms that Jesus was both God and man simultaneously.
Dyothelitism is the belief in two wills in Jesus Christ, one divine and one human. This concept is significant in Christian theology because it helps explain how Jesus, as both fully divine and fully human, could have both a divine will and a human will while on Earth. This understanding is important in discussing the nature of Christ and his role in salvation.
The relationship between the two. But nobody on earth fully understands that yet.
No, Jesus is now both fully human and fully divine.
