God, in a very philisophical way is not definable really so he\she\it are just as equally applicable. In classical Greek mythology and many other mythologies of days past gendered Gods were common from Aphroditie, Athena, and Hera.
In most contemporary religions God is usually a 'he' more so just for literary conveinence (as in English the default gender falls to MAN as in mankind, man-made, etc.) This is likely due to male dominance in society so far to date.
"I would be hard pressed to even consider limiting the concept of a God to those three letters let alone pin a configuration of the bits and pieces of a gender to the Divine." -KCP
