Question is incorrect. The historical Buddha was born in the Himalayas (Nepal, year 623 BC). The natives of ancient Nepal were the Kirat people / Kiratis (better known today as the Gurkhas), comprising of Tamang, Gurung, Sherpa, Rai etc.
