Brahman is considered as a formless god. This is because it can't be perceived with any sense organs and it can't be felt.

BRAHMAN, MANU SMRITI AND PURUSHA:

According to Manu Smriti 1. 11, Brahman is same as Purusha, who is both real and unreal.

However, it is not mentioned anywhere what exactly Purusha is.

According to Purusha (Rigveda 1.10.90 -1) Purusha has thousand heads, thousand eyes and thousand feet. The mantra is symbolic and actually means that Purusha can think about any thing, perceive anything and do anything.

According to Manu Smriti, Brahman can be perceived with a special sense organ (Manu Smriti 1. 7).

According to Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (1.4. 10) "I am Brahman". This means that Brahman is something within us.

The one and only structure in the human body that can do and be all these is our skeletal muscular system, acting as a single unit.

SKELETAL MUSCULAR SYSTEM, PURUSHA AND BRAHMAN:

All the skeletal muscles of our body can isometrically contract and relax (temporarily harden and soften) as a single unit. This can be called as Unified Skeletal Muscle (USM)

USM enables us to,

1. Think about anything (Purusha has thousand heads - Rigveda 1.10.90-1). According to Manu Smriti 1.14 mind is both real and unreal.

2. Feel anything (Purusha has thousand eyes - 1.10.90-1) - Sensations cause changes in tone of skeletal muscle, enabling us to feel objects

3. Do anything (Purusha has thousand feet 1.10.90-1). The USM can't bring about any movement. However, it can facilitate or retard any movement.

Thus, Purusha, Brahman and USM are one and the same.

THE FORMLESS BRAHMAN:

Under ideal conditions both Saguna Brahman and Nirguna Brahman can't be felt.

When we are executing an activity with Saguna Brahman we would ignore our body and concentrate on our task. Thus, while driving we concentrate on the road ahead, Vehicles and people around our car. We ignore our body completely.

Similarly, while taking rest with Nirguna Brahman, we wouldn't be feeling any part of our body because there would be no task that is yet to be done.

It is for this reason that we feel that Brahman is formless.

However, for all practical purposes Brahman is the same as our skeletal muscular system acting as a single unit.
