Yes. Judaism is different than Christianity.

From a Christian perspective they used to be Jews but Christ came and saved them and fulfilled the Jewish laws.

From the Jewish perspective Christ was just a prophet not God and they are still waiting for their Messiah to come.

However, Catholicism started out as all Jews who had acknowledged that Our Blessed Savior was the long awaited and promised Messiah that the Jews had been waiting for all those centuries. Those Jews and their descendants are now the Catholics of today (along with the Gentile converts). The Jews who did not accept Our Blessed Lord as the Messiah are the forefathers of today's Jews. The Catholic religion is deeply rooted in Judaism and the Old Testament.
