Is it a sin to fight in war?

It depends on your religious beliefs. According to many religions such as the christian belief (The Bible) or the book of Islam (the Quran), there are many sins that should be punishable by death, killing being among the long list of sins therefore contradicting itself. However, while many religious groups condone it or condemn it, most atheists and theists consider it to be immoral and wrong despite religion.

God would not endorse or enjoy war. Surely he is against useless killing. However, in the Muslim Qur'an, killing is a way to purify ones world and become more like Allah. This rite, known as Jihad, has been in practice since the time of Mohammed many years ago. Since, it has ambigously come to refer to violence. For example, many mujaheed believe that the massacres, bombings, etc, happening these days are all justified by the Jihad, since they are campaigning against the sinful "crusaders" (the Coalition forces). Simply put, I do not believe any divine entity would wish conflict among his believers.

Not really. I am not religios, but if you reken that god is the father of every one n all that then yes i would have thought so. I think this is one of those situations, I am Catholic and killing is a sin. Regardless of circumstance, it is not ok to kill just because your country says you can. God is high above any man or nation. This is not fact, but my opinion. To me, killing is wrong period. Nowadays there is too much blame redirected elsewhere. We need to be held accountable for our actions. So, I would think that regardless of circumstance or intent, killing is just plain wrong. Killing in the military is only dissallowed if the person you kill poses no threat to you or any direct member of your faction, if you are religios and you believe killing to be sinful then i guess it is a sin, but if you are not religious then it do not believe it is a sin, but the terminology of SIN is catholic and it is only really sinful if yyou believe it to be, but it is a question that i think is more a personal opinion question than a question that has a set answer.

I would say yes. Remember when god said," Thou shall not kill." When you fight in the war, you kill people who are just doing the same thing you're doing, defending your country.
