Is polygamy wrong in gods eyes?

Whether or not it is wrong is based on personal opinion. Most Western cultures see polygamy as wrong, yet ignore the huge amount of infidelity in their cultures. Most indiginous cultures, especially those in Africa, commonly practice polygamy and see no problem with it. Many religious peoples, especially those in Abrahamic-based religions, also see no problem with polygamy, as ancient people in their religious customs often had more than one wife. (take Abraham and Jacob for example)

In the strictest sense, polygamy is more of a sin against modern society.

Many of the "biblical heroes" had more than one wife (and a fair share of their wives' handmaids). However, these "heroes" were blessed by God with wealth and power... and could afford them.

God, Himself, has TWO estranged wives: Israel and Judah. "...the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were Mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria (Israel) is Aholah, and Jerusalem (Judah) Aholibah." (Ezek.23:4)

Here again... God, who owns the universe, could afford them. The average man, however, needs only one.

But it's not a matter of sin. Sin is the transgression of the law (I John 3-4)... and the Commandments say nothing about the number of wives a man may have.

God created only ONE woman Eve for Adam, which was described as equal assistant to him, i.e. she was not a child nor a slave. He was commanded to cherish her, and she was commanded to love and honor him.

Adam was made physically stronger while Eve was made emotionally stronger.

A true union because they complete each other.

The Bible does not say that polygamy is wrong. In fact, polygamy in the ancient world is discussed in the bible.

In the Old Testament it was necessary to exponentially raise the population, especially after the flood. God however wants marriage to br between one man and one woman. Think of the garden of eden, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Eve, Sarah, Emily, and Persephone. Sin corrupted the world, then Jesus conquered sin, Jesus spoke about monogamy only, that one man and one wife become one flesh, that cannot be shared between multiple spouses.
