Every Old-Testament believer or New-Testament Christian, right through to and including the present day, who openly follow the God of the Bible will suffer persecution. All persecution ultimately originates from Satan and his followers, both human and demonic:-
Satan hates all human beings :-
Gen 3:15 KJV And I will put enmity between thee [ie Satan] and the woman [ie Eve], and between thy seed[ie all unredeemed human beings] and her seed [ie human children]; it shall bruise [literally "crush"] thy head [ie Satan's] , and thou [ie Satan] shalt bruise his heel [ie Jesus Christ].
Rev 12:13 KJV And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Luk 4:13 KJV And when the devil had ended all the temptation [ie of Christ], he departed from him [ie Christ] for a season.
The Old Testament:-
Luk 11:49-51 KJV Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them and prophetsapostles, and some of them they shall slay andpersecute: [v. 50] That the blood of all theprophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; [v. 51] From the blood of Abelunto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
Act 7:52 KJV Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
All Christians:-
Luk 21:12 KJV But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
(Including by Saul [who became the Apostle Paul] ):-
Act 9:4-5 KJV And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [v. 5] And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
2Ti 3:12 KJV Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
The specific word appears ten times. However if one adds all the variants such as persecute, persecuted, etc the number would go over 50.
No they don't. Jehovah's Witnesses are not surprised by persecution, since the Bible indicates that Christians would be persecuted, but they do not delight in persecution nor believe that it brings any merit. Most Jehovah's Witnesses today have the hope of living forever on a paradise earth. Only a small number of them living today have received the call to heavenly life. Even this group does not believe that persecution will give them more in heaven.
DEATH
A:There is nothing in the Bible to suggest that the apostle Thomas was ever persecuted. There are several traditions about the death of the apostle Thomas, the most popular of which is that he died in India, but none is reliable.
Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing
The word "persecution" is in the King James Version of the Bible 10 times. It is in 10 verses.
The Bible does not mention any Roman Emperor as persecuting the Church. In fact, there does not appear to have been any widespread, official persecution of the Church during the first century. The only exception to the first-century emperors ignoring or tolerating the Christians was when Emperor Nero blamed the Christians of Rome, probably unfairly, for starting the Great Fire of Rome. Edward Gibbon (The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire) says that this did not extend to a general persecution of Christians throughout the empire.
