This is a difficult situation and largely depends on the level of religious observance of the person who's house you are visiting. The easiest way to find out if it would be acceptable to the person in question is to ask what to bring, if they keep a kosher house, they might suggest something that is certified kosher from a grocery store. If you don't want to ask, then again, something from a grocery store that is certified kosher and is completely sealed is the best option.

Unless you know for sure that the person in question eats non-kosher meat at home, never bring any meat to their home. The same goes for most cheeses as non-kosher cheeses normally contain lipase and/or rennet which are not allowed according to Jewish dietary law.
