Hinduism is a grass-root religion. There is no record of any other religion in India. Hindus never rejected any old God. All were adjusted in later religious philosophies. That is why we have thousands of Gods and Goddesses. It must have started with the first humans from Africa 60-70,000 years ago. Hinduism incorporated all the various beliefs in different parts of India. So, the whole of India is where Hinduism began.
Brahmanism was the religion of aryans, and was the primary form of Hinduism. Brahmanism was influenced by many other and accepted the best parts from them, thus Brahmanism was transformed into Hinduism.

If you take the perspective that the Hindu Gods are just facets of One All-Powerful God, which is advocated by some Hindus, Judaism's One God is not divisible in this manner and has only one nature with numerous attributes, not numerous parts of self (like the Christian Trinity attempts to be).
