King Solomon says that he was dark or black.

Answer

Contrary to the above, no verses state that the tribe of Judah, nor Solomon was black. Solomon, and the tribe of Judah were Jews, and would have the normal olive-skinned Mediterranean complexion.

The confusion arises from those who do not understand the Hebrew of the Old Testament where Solomon is described as 'dark'. The Hebrew word used does not mean 'black-skinned' but 'tanned'. The reason for this specific mention of Solomon's skin tone was because it was unusual for royalty to have suntanned skin as they did no labour. Only the poorest classes, who had to labour outside in the sun, had tanned skin.
