in Ethiopia
Ethiopians intially practiced polytheistic religions in which there is a main creator gods and several lesser gods (i.e. a sky god, water god, etc) During the prophet Muhammed's lifetime (the founder of the religion of Islam), he sought refuge in Ethiopia when he was run out of Mecca (Saudi Arabia). As a result, the religion of Islam is also practiced in Ethiopia. Centuries later, Christian missionaries also arrived.
