I cannot find a complete list of those saints removed from the Calendar of Saints. Actually, they have not been 'decanonized' but were removed from the Calendar because there is very little believable information abut them. Their lives are so mythical that they may have not even existed in the first place. In most cases continued veneration is still allowed unless their cult has been supressed. There were about 40 saints removed from the calendar. Here are some of those saints:
Saint Christopher
Saint Valentine of Rome
Saint Ursula
Saint Barbara
Saint Philomena
Pope John Paul II canonized about 480 saints.
No, Pope Paul VI dropped about 40 saints from the Calendar of Saints.
The consecration is held a few days after a new pope is elected and it is the official inauguration, or crowning, of the pope. Since Pope Paul VI popes have eliminated the crowning.
Emilia and Karol Wojtyła were the parents of Pope John Paul II.
He beatified 1,340 people and canonized 483 saints.
Pope John Paul II beatified 1,340 people and canonized 483 saints.
Pope Paul VI was the only pope in 1970.
Pope John Paul I took the names of his two predecessors - John XXIII and Paul VI. John Paul II took the name of his predecessor - John Paul I.
John Paul II beatified 1,340 people and canonized 483 saints,
Newly elected Popes usually choose a saint's name or a previous pope's names (someone they respect) to be known as. In this case Pope John Paul II was honoring his predecessors, Popes John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, and Pope John Paul I.
John Paul II was preceded by Pope John Paul I who was preceded by Pope Paul XI.
AnswerPope John Paul never wanted to be a Pope but when the people voted for him he accepted. :)
