Hinduism probably first came to India prior 2,000 BC from the proto-Indo-Iranian culture of southern Russia and has some features in common with Zoroastrianism, which also arose in that culture. Unlike Zoroastrianism it is generally polytheistic, but spans from animism to monism.

Reincarnation is a fundamental belief of Hinduism. According to the law of reincarnation, the manner in which a person lives his or her life determines whether he or she rises or falls in the caste system when reborn, until finally the virtuous Brahman will be released from the cycle of earthly life and ushered into the heavenly world of eternal peace and knowledge. Hinduism's caste system has no counterpart in Abrahamic religion.

Judaism, the parent religion of the other Abrahamic religions, arose in the Near East and any early influence came from other nearby religions. Judaism came into contact with Hinduism's distant relative, Zoroastrianism, during the Babylonian Exile (7th century BC) and absorbed some concepts that are arguably somewhat similar to concepts that form part of Hindu belief. However, reincarnation is not part of Abrahamic belief.

Modern Abrahamic religions are considered to be monotheistic, with the significant exception of Mormonism.

The Buddha told his followers that they did not need to believe in any gods, to achieve enlightenment, but they could if they wished. Today, most Buddhists around the world are polytheistic (believing in more than one god), but some followers do not believe in any gods. The Abrahamic religions (principally Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are essentially monotheistic. A Buddhist could also be a Christian, but is unlikely to be a Muslim, although Muslims may consider the Buddha to be a prophet of Islam.

Buddhists may believe in reincarnation, as preparation for the spiritual afterlife, while modern-day followers of the Abrahamic faiths do not, believing instead that each person's soul enters a spiritual afterlife. The early Church Father, Origen believed in reincarnation, and this doctrine has never been specifically rejected by the Christian Church, although many Christian theologians have dismissed or derided it. Regional communities of Buddhism, Christianity and Islam may incorporate some aspects of local animistic beliefs.

Buddhism and the Abrahamic religions all teach high ethical standards and the importance of helping others. Many followers of the Abrahamic religions believe that their scriptures take precedence over scientific knowledge and may have great difficulty in accommodating science that appears contrary to a literal reading of their scriptures, while Buddhism seems more open to change.

Basically, all Abrahamic religions are similar because they all calling to worship the one God, the same God, and the only one God without partners. However, differences arose due to deviations of Judaism and Christianity from the right path due alterations introduced into their religions and into their texts by some followers to achieve their own objectives and goals. That is why Quran was revealed by God to prophet Muhammad throiugh the Angel Gabriel (Jibril) to correect for these deviations and renew the call for worshiping the one God, the same God, and the only one God without partners.
