Intolerance, Ignorance, Control, Desire to be a part of something bigger, lots of rules and morals that people don't follow.
As this appears to be a question that asks for personal opinion (as what an individual associates with something is highly subjective) I will not "correct" the above answer, but rather expound upon it.
Religion in its basic form is a ritualized or traditionalized system of applied beliefs and faiths, usually surrounding a diety or several dieties. Many people associate religion with intolerance as a member of a perticular religion can be intolerant of members of other religions. Some associate religion with ignorance as some religions are seen as trying to "explain" how everything came to be without science, or to explain elements of spirituality with science when that which is spiritual cannot be considered part of the order of nature.
Some view religion as a form of control or "the opiate of the masses" as it is seen as creating a system of moral code and guilt when one does not follow said moral code. Some view religion as simply a product of the human desire to be a member of community or connected with a higher power. And some view religion as simply a system of rules and regulations that are impossible to follow. There are elements of truth in these perceptions, but they are not universally true of all religions, or necessarily true of all people within any religion.
Arguably, members of a religion see themselves as "believers" or people who perscribe to a perticular ideology. Thus Atheism itself can be considered a form of "religion" with science as its deity and "the origin of the species" as its bible.
We must not be too quick to judge or dismiss religion as it seeks to define that which cannot be explained in the natural world.

Christianity and Islam. __________________________________________________________ Any religion may be influenced by another religion if it is a man developed religion and not same God religion. The three religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam are God religions created by same God. Hence it is logic to find common features in the three religions; mainly monotheism. Accordingly, it is hard to believe that any religion got influenced by another religion. Otherwise, how the three religion are same God religions and not man made religions.
