The most important principle to have your Duaa accepted is , per prophet Muhammad (PBUH) saying that you should have your food obtained by halal money, you should have clothing obtained by halal money, and all your expenditures from halal money.

- There are many beautiful Islamic teachings about the Dua'a " Supplications ", I'll tell you some of what I could remember:

1. You have to be fully sure & faithful that God hears your supplication, seeing you all the time & knowing everything about you. Allah says:

(When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way).

Holy Quran, (2:186).

2. the prophet Muhammad, may Allah grant Him with peace teaches the Muslims in His Sunnah that no supplication is lost, God is the Greatest the Most Generous so He may respond to you & give you your wish or He may drive bad things away from you & preventing them from occurrence as a reward to your supplications or He may reward you for them at the day of Judgment instead of this fleeting life. all in all,God knows the best for us & chooses the best for us according to His unlimited knowledge & mercy.

3.Wisdom of God is unlimited & sometimes it reveals itself to you but it's existent all the time for sure. so you have not to be sad in case of supplicating for something if it doesn't materialize exactly as you wanted, again be sure that God knows what is the best for us. In many situations in this life,we discover that our personal choices or wishes are either incorrect or inaccurate or even completely wrong, contrary to our expectations!!

so leave everything to God & always rely on Him to choose for you & to run all the details of your life because He is the Merciful, the Wise, the Strong. He always has His reasons for everything, all glory is for Him.

Allah says:

(Should He not know,- He that created? and He is the One that understands the finest mysteries (and) is well-acquainted (with them))

Holy Quran,(67:14)

4. Remember that you are a Muslim & Islam means the total submission to God, so show Him your surrender & complete submission. It will be great when shedding tears in your supplication or at least just have a very humble & loving heart.

5. The good intention is a key rule, never supplicate except with good things for you &/or others. also,as stated before: be sure that God is with you & sees, hears & knows you & He is the only One who is capable of helping you.

6. Remember that no one is between you & you God, Allah. You can abbreviate the distance to the heavens by just calling Him & making your supplications.

(You alone we worship & You alone we beseech for help, guide us to the straight path)

Holy Quran,(1 : 4-5)

7. There are favorable time in which the supplications are most likely to be accepted, examples: in your prayer during the prostration, between adhan & iqamah as the prophet Muhammad PBUH says:

( "Supplication that is made between adhan and iqamah is never rejected." [Ahmed 1220, Abu Dawud 521]

also when it rains...etc.

8. Never stop this great deed " Dua'a" as it's the worship itself.

what is interesting about supplications that you can send them every time, at all cases wherever you are. so, invest each moment of your life in mentioning Allah & sending your supplications to Him very sincerely, supplication is your weapon in this life & it's one of the shortest righteous paths to Allah, never abandon them.

Allah says:

(The most beautiful names belong to Allah. so call on him by them; but shun such men as use profanity in his names: for what they do, they will soon be requited).

Holy Quran, (7:180).

so, if you are a poor ( & all of us are poor & needy to Allah) then use the name " The Richest" & if you are weak ( & all of us are weak) remember the name " The Strongest" & so on. Feel all the names of God, all glory is for Him & with them live.

9. Learn supplications from both the holy Quran & the authentic Sunnah & enrich your life with them, thy are too many.

10. Supplications are for all cases, to complain to your God & asking Him to strength & support you. Also, to show your thankfulness to Him for His unlimited favors, seen & unseen.

(Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah. Little it is that ye heed! )152)

Holy Quran,(chapter 27 : verse 62)

& also:

(Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you. Be grateful to Me, and reject not Faith)

Holy Quran,(2:152).

11. Don't hasten, be patient & never get bored or tired.

do all what is required from you as if these reasons are everything BUT deep in your heart, rely on God as if all these reasons are nothing!

*May Allah bless all of you. please, refer to the related question for more points.

No. No says in Sura Baqra: Aya 165: Substance: (O my Prophet) when my servants ask thee about Me (where is Allah), tell them I am very close to them, I answer (accept) their call whenever they call to me, thus they must call to me (and none else), so that they find the right path.
