Abraham started Judaism when he created a covenant with God to be monotheistic (the belief in the one and only God).
During his lifetime, Abraham was tested 10 times by God to test his faith. The last test was told to him by God to sacrifice his son. So the altar on which Abraham's son would be killed on was on top of a mountain, so Abraham and his son climbed the mountain (Abraham was really old here so his son actually carried the wood on which he would be killed on to the top of the mountain).
But right when he was about to kill his son, God spoke to him and told him that he didn't need to sacrifice his son and that he was only testing his faith (Genesis ch.22).
God said that he sees that Abraham is a man that will do what God tells him.
