In both Qur'an verses 21:50-71 and in the Jewish Midrash Breishit 38:11-13, Abraham demands that his father, Terah, not worship IDOLS.
Both stories continue identically. Abraham further breaks the idols Terah's workshop. The idolmakers get furious and demand that Abraham be punished. Abraham protests saying that the idols are meaningless because there is only One God and He is not in the idols. The idolmakers decide to burn him alive for desecrating the idols, but Abraham miraculously escapes being burned alive.

A:There is no evidence anywhere in the Book of Genesis that Abraham was monotheistic. Although Genesis attributes to Abraham worship of God (Yahweh), it does not exclude his acceptance of the actual existence of other gods.
Abraham is not a god and Jews do not recognize him as a god. However he is considered a patriarch or father in the respect that he was the father of Isaac and through his seed came Jesus. One popular Bible scripture for Abraham is: James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.
well, he didn't really. his father brought him to the king who had him thrown into the fire <what a doting parent>. Abraham did destroy his father's idols though. his father put him in charge of caring for the idols, and Abraham tried to discourage people from bringing them offerings. then he destroyed all the idols and put the axe in the biggest idol's hand. when his father returned home, he was very angry and asked what had happened. Abraham then told his father the biggest idol had destroyed all the others. his father was outraged. "they are stone he screamed "they can not move!" "if that is so" Abraham replied "how can you worship it?"
The Jews consider Abraham the father of their nation.
Abraham
Abraham lived 175 years. His father lived 205 years.
Abraham's father was Terah (Genesis ch.10-11). His mother, according to tradition, was called Amatlai bat (daughter of) Carnabu (Talmud, Bava Batra 91). Abraham's parents were idolaters who followed the widespread practice of moon-worship. They taught this to their children, with their son Nahor accepting it, but Haran remained skeptical, and Abraham rejected it.See also:http://judaism.answers.com/jewish-history/a-biography-of-abraham
