Taft was a Unitarian. His family (the Tafts) were old New England stock - descendants of the Puritan colonists of Massachusetts, and therefore Congregationalists. The Unitarian church was basically a spin-off the Congregational church which had discarded all the non-abstract elements of Christianity: the Trinity, the Resurrection, miracles and saints, and the idea that Jesus wsa the Son of God, and himself an aspect of God. What's left is a belief in God as an all-powerful and benevolent but very abstract force, and respect for the Christian traditions of worship and for Jesus as a man of immense wisdom. There is no evidence that the Tafts had any Jewish ancestry or associations whatsoever.

Who was depressive president of US?

I think you mean "who was the most depressed president?" If you do, and this is a matter of my opinion, I would say William Howard Taft. His real dream was to be a Supreme Court Judge, not a president. He is overshadowed by what the huge impact that his predecessor (Theodore Roosevelt) made for this country. Not to mention that he was very overweight.

Who was the President of the Philippines in 1910?

In 1910 no one had the title "President of the Philippines." At that time the Philippines was a possession of the USA and was governed by an appointee of the US President. You might stretch a point and say that the President of the US was the President of the Philippines, although no one thought in those terms then. How fat was James K. Polk?

President Polk was of a normal height and weight-- most sources say he weighed about 185 pounds. Given his height, he was not very fat at all. You may have been confusing him with William Howard Taft, who was very overweight-- at one point as much as 350 pounds, until he finally went on a serious diet. According to one story that seems to be factual, President Taft was so fat that he once got stuck in a bathtub.

Did William Taft play Baseball?

When I was a boy I found a book on the history of baseball in my grandfather's house. It was interesting because it was written in the late 1940's. Baseball was a younger sport then. This book included stories of great 19th century baseball teams I'd never heard of. One of them was the Cincinnati Red Legs, who were a dominant team some time after the civil war. I want to say the 1870's. A piece of trivia in the story concerned William Howard Taft. As a young man Taft was good enough as a baseball player to be asked to play for this outstanding team. Taft turned down the opportunity because his father was opposed to it. Professional baseball wasn't as respectable as it is today.

Is Taft a bad president?

"Taft was a bad president because he was a bad politition and did not even want to be president. he only became president because his wife wanted to be the first lady. in my opinion Taft did nothing wat so ever to help us except those little reforms. so no he was a bbbbbaaaaaaaddd pres.!!!" Most of these words are untrue, though I completely respect that the author of the article is allowed to have his own opinon. I did some research on Taft, and in my opinion, William Howard Taft was a great president. He was an amazing student who graduated from the prestigious Yale University with a doctorate in Law. He was intelligent and had good ideas, and he claimed both New Mexico and Arizona for the United States during his term. His wife, Helen Harrem's whims did not affect his decisions, by the way. He did reform things, as the author above stated, and there were no economy problems during his term, which is more than I can say for our current president. He always kept things under control, and even made some improvements on America. That's why I think Taft was a good president, even if he did get stuck in a bathtub.
