What do you do when you go to heaven?

When people die, they don't go to heaven. When people die, they die and that's that. I don't understand why people cannot accept that. Think of it like this:

When you die, you forget everything that has ever happened.

That is similar to what happens when you die. However, you live through your children, and that's why reproduction is the meaning of life.

When you die the spirit leaves the body and returns to the spirit world from where it came from originally. The body stays on earth to await the resurrection. Whilst in heaven our spirit is taught the gospel in all of its fulness. As we take back with us our agency we have the choice of excepting it rejecting what we are taught, for God will force no man to accept His teachings. Our acceptance or rejection plus what we did whist upon the earth will determin which part of Gods kingdom we will be allotted.

Christian view

According to God's word, the Holy Bible, a Christian (a believer in Jesus Christ) will go to heaven when they die. The body will remain in the grave until the resurrection, but the soul will return to God.

• You worship God as the one and only one God with no partner, no son, no companion, no associate and no equivalence,

• follow God commands as for what to do and what not to do

The word translated into English as 'hell' is a misunderstood word.

The Hebrew word used in The Bible is 'sheol' (or 'sheʼohl′). King James Version translates it 3 different ways into English (hell-31 times; grave-31 times; pit-3 times)

To undo the confusion, other translations 'transliterate' (not translate) the word as 'sheol'.

• Regarding the word 'sheol' A CompendiousHebrew Lexicon, Samuel Pike stated that it is "the common receptacle or region of the dead; . . . the grave . . ." (Cambridge, 1811, p. 148)

Therefore 'sheol' is not the same as an individual 'burial spot'; but is the 'common grave of all mankind, both good and bad.'

• Collier's Encyclopedia (1986, Vol. 12, p. 28) says: "Since Sheol in Old Testament times referred simply to the abode of the dead and suggested no moral distinctions, the word 'hell,' as understood today, is not a happy translation."

• Regarding the word "Sheol," Brynmor F. Price and Eugene A. Nida noted: "The word . . . refer(s) to the place to which all dead people go. . . . in which there is no activity . . . . There are no moral distinctions there, so 'hell' (KJV) is not a suitable translation, . . . . In a sense, 'the grave' in a generic sense is a near equivalent, except that Sheol is more a mass grave in which all the dead . . ."go.

Therefore according to reputable scholars; and according to The Bible itself, we ALL go to 'hell' ('sheol') when we die (or at the point of death). The concept of an 'immortal soul' is not from Bible origins, but is from non-bible or pagan origins. Likewise the concept of 'eternal torment' is also from non-bible origins.

Answer: Nobody knows, it is most likely that the minds we currently use cannot comprehend something so totally alien. The important part of heaven is being with god, uninhibited as we are by the mortal bodies we have to feed and rest. Since god is the most creative, good, and fun entity who has ever and will ever be; I doubt we'll lack things to do.

If there is a heaven, we actually know nothing about it, or what happens there. The rather late Book of Revelation provides the only description, which is of angels constantly worshipping God, but even this does not give us a picture of what the righteous dead were doing at that time. And since John tells us this account was only a vision (see, for example, Revelation 9:17), it was not a real description of heaven.

The Hebrew Bible does not delve into detail of the rewards of the righteous because religions could compete with more and more poetic promises. Also because belief in the afterlife was shared by all ancient societies and needed little reiteration. Besides, it would be like describing the colors of a sunrise to someone who was blind from birth.

One of the central beliefs of Judaism, as stated in the Talmud (Mishna, Sanhedrin 11:1) and codified by Maimonides (1135-1204), is that the soul continues to exist and is treated in accordance with the person's actions while he or she was alive. This applies to all people, whatever their religion.
The Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) doesn't dwell at length on the afterlife; and nor does Judaism spend a lot of time speculating on its details. However, that is not meant to diminish from its importance. Rather, the Torah implies that we are to use the bulk of our energies in keeping God's ways in this world, with our feet firmly planted on Earth, while nonetheless not losing awareness of our beliefs.
Our ancient sages stated the importance of being aware of the next world: "This world is a mere entrance-hall before the afterlife" (Mishna, Avot ch.4).

All outstanding accounts are settled after this life. Some cases illustrate this point, since this entire world wouldn't be enough to reward a Moses or punish a Hitler. And while we're alive, knowledge of the future world serves as one of the motivations to keeping God's will.

The Tanakh does not delve into detail of the rewards of the righteous.
It is, however, referred to briefly in Torah verses such as Genesis 15:15, which states that "You (Abraham) will come to your fathers in peace and will be buried in good old age." Coming to his fathers does not mean simply to be buried with them, since Abraham was not buried with his ancestors. Such verses are stated many times.
The prophets are more explicit with such references (see Isaiah 26:19 and 66:24, Daniel 12:13, Zechariah 3:7, 1 Kings 8:30, 2 Kings ch.2, Ecclesiastes 12:7). The afterlife is spoken of at length in the Talmud. More than 20 pages of Talmud (Sanhedrin 90-110, Rosh Hashanah 16-18, and other passages) are given to this subject.
