The history of Hajj refers to the origins and development of the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It traces back to the time of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his family, particularly the events surrounding his son Isma'il (Ishmael) and the Kaaba. Over centuries, Hajj has evolved in terms of rituals, significance, and the number of pilgrims, becoming a unifying event for Muslims worldwide. The pilgrimage is not only a spiritual journey but also a reflection of Islamic traditions and communal identity.

I am going to Hajj. I will go to Hajj next year. My aunt is back from Hajj. Performing Hajj is a good deed.
I went to the hajj of december 2006. According to people I traveled with there were 5.5 million people attending. I am currently living in California. One of my friends told me that hajj of 2011 which is supposedly hajj akbar will be the most in the history of hajj. So my guess would be 6-7 million. Could be wrong though. Peace to All
As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Akhbari Hajj refers to every normal Hajj. It is called Akhbari Hajj(big Hajj) to distinguish it from Umrah which is called Hajj-e-Asghar (small Hajj). However, if the day of Arafaat is a Friday, the reward for such a Hajj is 70 times more. Please visit this site for hajj & umrah bookings. muslimsholytravel.co.uk
