In the 1st Council of Nicea in 325AD, it was confessed that when we proclaim that Jesus was "begotten, not made," we are saying that he is of the same substance of the Father (Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 465). Jesus was not created. He always was, always is, and always will be. In The Bible the word "begotten" is used to imply a father-son relationship (ex. "Abraham begot Isaac" Matthew 1:2).

"Some Christians today (Jehovah's Witnesses) and in the past (Arians) have suggested that God created Jesus like God would an angel. The creed tells us that just as when a woman gives birth she does not create a child out of nothing, being begotten of God, the Son is not created out of nothing. Since the Son's birth from the Father occurred before time was created, begotten refers to a permanent relationship as opposed to an event within time" (link added).

What does nicene mean?

The Nicene Creed is the creed or profession of faith that is most widely used in Christian liturgy. It is called Nicene because, in its original form, it was adopted in the city of Nicaea by the first ecumenical council, which met there in 325. The Nicene Creed has been normative to the Anglican and Roman Catholic Eucharistic rite as well as Eastern Orthodoxy liturgy.

What is the Anglican magnificent creed?

Anglicans have the three traditional creeds of the Christian Church: The Nicene, Apostles and Athanasian Creeds. Of these, the Nicene Creed is the most commonly used. I don't recall ever saying the Athanasian Creed, although it is printed in prayer books (at least in Australia). When you refer to 'magnificent', do you mean the Magnificat? This is the song of Mary, taken from Scripture, which is said at Evening Prayer. This is not a creed, but what Mary is recounted to have said to Elizabeth when she described the coming birth of the Saviour (Luke 1:46-55). See the Wikipedia article.

What is the creed the formal summary of christian beliefs?

The creed of True Christianity would be the Nicene Creed with its interpretation as understood by the Catholic Church. All other "interpretations of the "creed" outside the Church are false as the terms therein have been "reinterpreted" to suit heretical views"Our profession of faith begins with God, for God is the First and the Last, the beginning and the end of everything. The Credo begins with God the Father, for the Father is the first divine person of the Most Holy Trinity; our Creed begins with the creation of heaven and earth, for creation is the beginning and the foundation of all God's works."---the Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 198Catholic belief is succinctly expressed in the profession of faith or credo called the Nicene Creed:I believe in one God,the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all things visible and invisible.I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,born of the Father before all ages.God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvationhe came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third dayin accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heavenand is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in gloryto judge the living and the deadand his kingdom will have no end.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sinsand I look forward to the resurrection of the deadand the life of the world to come. What is the Catholic statement of belief?

The Nicene Creed is a statement/profession of Roman Catholic beliefs. It is recited at every Mass. We profess belief in the Traditional Magisterium of all time, believing what has been believed everywhere, always and by everyone, what has been infallibly taught I mean. And the Pope is infallible when he makes a statement ex cathedra, binding all the faithful to belief or else they would excommunicate themselves. This infallibility has only to do with faith and morals. He is then under protection of the Holy Ghost and his statement would be free from doctrinal error. The Holy Father also has ordinary infallibility which is like if he speaks about the faith and adds NOTHING new, he has protection of ordinary infallibility. We do not BLINDLY believe all the Popes say. They Must comport with what has always been believed and taught by everyone at all times. No New Doctrine. Ever.

What does the word 'one' mean in the Roman Catholic Church?

'One' as recited in the Nicene Creed means one, single Church united under the leadership of Jesus Christ through His vicar on earth, the pope. Since the Catholic Church was the only Christian Church in existence at the time the reference could only be made to that Church.

What does each line of the Nicene Creed mean?

The Nicene Creed is a statement of Christian faith that affirms the belief in the Trinity: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each line expresses core doctrines, such as the belief in one God who is the creator of all, the divinity of Jesus as God's Son who became incarnate, suffered, died, and was resurrected for humanity's salvation, and the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding the Church. It also emphasizes the importance of the Church, the sacraments, and the hope of eternal life. Overall, the Creed serves as a foundational declaration of Christian beliefs that unite believers across different denominations.
