What does Thy Will Be Done in the bible mean?

This passage comes from the so-called "Sermon on the Mount" found in Matthew chapters 5 thru 7. Specifically, it's from what most people refer to as "The Lord's Prayer" -- but which is really "an outline" as to "the basic elements" God's Children should include in their prayers to the Father in heaven. [the REAL Lord's Prayer is found in the 17th chapter of John]

Jesus begins by telling the Child of God to address his prayer to his Father in heaven... followed by an acknowledgement of His Sacred and Holy NAME. ['Hallowed be thy name'] Please take note of the Third Commandment regarding God's "name"... and how it's not a trivial thing with God for men to tamper with it in any kind of casual or flippant manner... much less, in anger.

Jesus then tells the praying Child of God to "pray for God's Kingdom to come to earth"... that GOD'S WILL MIGHT BE DONE HERE -- AS IT ALREADY IS DONE IN HEAVEN.

The Kingdom of God is the "GOSPEL"... the "good news"... the MESSAGE that Jesus brought, and which He preached at all times. The establishment of the Kingdom of God on this earth, to replace the wicked governments of Satan, is what God has been working on since the beginning; as Jesus puts it:

"When the Son of Man shall come in His Glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His Glory... Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, YE BLESSED OF MY FATHER, inherit the Kingdom PREPARED FOR YOU FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD." (Matt.25:31-34)

The future establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth IS GOD'S WILL and His plan.

That's what He intends to do... and what He has always intended to do, since Satan's rebellion against God's Government in the beginning ["...there was war in heaven..." - Rev.12:7].

GOD's WILL is to return, once again, Peace and Harmony to the universe that Satan disrupted when he made his coup attempt to dethrone God and become 'God,' himself.

"...I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God... I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High." (Isa.14:13-14)

"CLOUDS" are a phenomena within the earth's atmosphere. Lucifer had his thoughts and made his plans while HE STOOD UPON THE EARTH.

It was from here on earth that he launched his assault on God's throne in heaven. [there was war IN HEAVEN]. It was here on earth where the universal Peace and Harmony of God's Government was disrupted and perverted... and fragmented.

And it was HERE ON EARTH... where Satan and his rebellious angels were cast back down from heaven... and confined -- until God could create a trustworthy group of replacements to fill the offices and positions [mansions] abandoned by Satan and his angels. Someone whom He can trust implicitly to keep and obey the laws of His Government... and to rule with discipline and a rod of iron; tempered with compassion and mercy.

The passage in question is talking about "God's will being done here on earth as it is being done in heaven." It's talking about the "gospel of Jesus Christ"... the wonderful good news that He has defeated, and has qualified Himself to replace this world's god as its King.

Jesus couldn't begin His ministry until AFTER He defeated Satan in the "temptation."

"...He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan..." (Mark 1:13).

Then, John was put in prison, and Jesus began to preach the Kingdom of God:

"...the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:15)

Jesus Christ is the "trustworthy" One who is the KING of the coming Kingdom of God who shall ESTABLISH GOD's WILL ON EARTH -- as it is in heaven.

"Of the increase of His Government and PEACE there shall BE NO END [when Jesus returns, God's will be done], upon the throne of David, and upon His Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with Judgment and Justice [God's Will will be done when Jesus returns] from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts WILL PERFORM THIS." (Isa.9:7)

That's what "Thy will be done" means. It's the "good news" of The Bible: mankind is being groomed to become God's Divine Family -- beginning with His most Trusted Firstborn Son, Jesus Christ.

And He has been grooming a core group of Trusted, Loving, Righteous Brothers and Sisters to fill the jobs, offices and positions [mansions, chambers] in the Kingdom that were vacated by Satan and his angels. God's will is being done... little by little... one person at a time... one Righteous, Godly Character built at a time... over the past 6000 thousand years or so.

And these future leaders of God's Kingdom will do God's Righteous Will with Judgment and Justice on earth... as it is done in heaven.

"...the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him... with Righteousness shall He Judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth: with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked." (Isa.11:2-4)

All these Righteous things God [Justice, Peace, Judgment] not being done on the earth, now... will be done on earth when the King of kings comes and establishes His Kingdom here.
