It could have two meanings. First, the repetition could signify an affection toward a person and an encouragement. God repeats Abraham's name in Gen. 22:11, Jacob's name in Gen. 46:2, and Moses in Exod. 3:4. It goes without saying how much God cared for these three men.

The second meaning of the repetition could simply be an emphasis on how serious God is attempting to get the attention of the person. In Abraham's case, God is attempting to tell him not to harm his son, Isaac. In the case of Jacob, it is a call to migrate to Egypt. Finally, in the case of Moses, God is telling him not to come any closer to the burning bush. So, saying the name once could be analogous to saying, "Hey!" Whereas saying the name twice would be the same as shouting, "Hey, you!"
