According to The Bible, Solomon was the fabulously wealthy king of a great and prosperous empire stretching from Egypt to the Euphrates River. No wonder the Queen of Sheba was so infatuated with him.

Archaeology tells a different story. Respected archaeologists say there was no great empire and that Judah was still a poor and relatively sparsely populated enclave in the tenth century BCE. They say that if Solomon really did exist, he was at most a local chieftain or warlord. There was no wealth to disappear after his death.
