When we try and do good things to "earn our way to heaven" we forget that God doesn't need us to prove ourselves; he loved us before we ever loved Him.
Christianity is meant to be a journey and a relationship with Christ. If it is just a show of morality, there is no Jesus, and there is no Christianity.
