The Romans have given us Christianity. This religion originated in Judea, which was part of the Roman Empire and then spread though this empire. It evolved into two main forms, which were called Latin/western Christianity and Greek/eastern Christianity. The former was the main form of Christianity in the western part of the empire and the latter was the main form in the eastern part of the empire. Later they came to be called Catholic and Orthodox respectively.
There is Rome, Greeks,India, China, and Egyptians still influence us today with their religions, culture, and etc.
Rome was very tolerant of other religions. Rome was a mixture of people from all over the known ancient world.
Rome ruled the Holy Land during Jesus' time so anyone in power--political and religious had to cooperate with Rome. Messianic religions which called for the overthrow of Rome's rule were suppressed and/or controlled.
It all depends on who is in charge. Whoever leads and has the power of Rome would determine the attitude toward other religions.
Rome is mainly Christian; mainly Catholic, but just about all religions are represented there.
