What is Judeo-Christian Scripture?

There is no such thing as a Judeo-Christian. "Judeo-Christian Ethics" is used by many Christians as an adjective to give the longevity of the Jewish experience to buttress much of their religious ideology which they may or may not share with Jews. Judaism came into existence between 4000 and 3200 years ago with the Divine Revelations to Abraham and Moses and Christianity came into existence between 2000 and 1700 years ago when the Apostles of Jesus recognized his Divinity and Sacrifice for Humanity.

Since the term Judeo-Christian was created intentionally by Christians to extend their morality back through Judaism, it does not have any differences with Christianity. All of the Christian Scriptures (the Old and New Testaments) are part of the Judeo-Christian canon.

The Jewish Holy Scripture is the Tanakh - the teachings, prophets and writings found in the Old Testament or Hebrew Bible. Christians include these as the see the New Testament as a continuance of the Old in their Bible. When Jesus was on Earth, there was only the Old Testament writings which He used to support His enlarged teachings - to include the 'spirit' of the law.


Additionally, we soon discover in the Bible that it was Jesus as the 'Word' of God that created all that is seen and unseen (John 1:1-4, 14). He walked with Adam & Eve, placed Enoch in a safe place to avoid inflamed crowds from killing him, instructed Noah and his family and was Melchizedek (see Hebrews 7), spoke to the Patriarchs, King David and Solomon to name a few key individuals. Jesus is our bridge to the beginning and the end - the alpha and omega. Christians do not need to use Jewish history and writings to buttress their beliefs. For me the term Judeo-Christian is a convenient way to say things which both religions believe in - though there are usually smaller differences of interpretation.
